My Robin's nest

Those noisy Robins woke me up
Early every day
My pillow wrapped around my ears
Please be "QUIET" I would say

Those birds would sing no matter what
up before the sun
I wondered as I lay in bed
If they woke everyone

I thought I'd go and look for them
Put on my shoes, my hat and vest
I wandered round the yard
and at last I found a nest

I climbed the tree up to the branch
that held the nest so true
You'll never believe what I found
Three little eggs of blue

I sat there for a while
I listened to them sing
I wondered when the eggs will hatch
And the excitement they would bring

Every morning for a week
I climbed up in that tree
and every morning I saw the eggs
no baby birds to see

As I was eating lunch one day
I heard the Robins tweet
I thought that this was strange
So I jumped up on my feet

I ran towards the tree
Where the robins flew about
I climbed up to the nest
and covered my mouth as not to shout

One bird already hatched
and another on it's way
A foot, a beak, a tweet, a squeek
This was my favourite day

Every day for two whole weeks
I went and saw the birds
every day they grew some more
the first, second and third

One day when I went back
The birds had left their home
I saw them in the tree
on the branches they did roam

They hung out for a while
I wondered when they'd fly
and when I least expected
They flew into the sky.

Now early in the mornings
When the winter turns to Spring
I smile when I hear
The robins start to sing
